Rugs of The Month
This is a great antique Persian Serapi. These rugs are also known as an antique Heriz, because they were woven in the city of Heriz before the transition to busier patterns and brighter colors. This rug is unique in that it has a very soft blue field, salmon spandrels, rust border and no dark colors at all. It is 9 feet 9 inches by 12 feet 6 inches. Circa 1880.
This is a superb example of an early Persian Fereghan Sarouk. (This is a name given to very early Sarouk rugs, also known as 'antique Sarouk') The navy medallion is on a rust field with ivory spandrels or corners and a navy border. It is 8'10"x12'2", circa 1900,
